Epson Ecotank Printers

Epson is among the most popular printer brands across the globe alongside HP and Canon. It manufactures a wide range of inkjet, laser, and ecotank printers for home and office use. It also produces other imaging and information equipment such as scanners and copiers.

If you’ve used a printer before, you’d know that you have to go through the hassles of frequently purchasing expensive ink cartridges and replacing them to enjoy uninterrupted printing. To avoid this, Epson introduced an innovative ink cartridge in 2015 that helps to avoid waste and makes refilling of the printer easy.

Epson EcoTank printers are different from normal Inkjet printers. Due to their unique, refillable ink tank system, there is no need for you to buy and replace ink cartridges. It features an ultra-high-capacity ink system which keeps providing the printer the required ink. When you run out of ink, all you need to do is top up the tank and continue printing.

Under the EcoTank range, printers are distinguished into categories like monochrome and color models, photo printers, A3 and A4 sizes. Given below is a list of some of the best Epson EcoTank printers to help you make an informed buying decision:

How to fill the ink tank of an Epson EcoTank printer?

As mentioned earlier, EcoTank printers don’t require ink cartridge replacement. You need to refill the cartridges when needed. EcoTank printers have a front ink level display. This makes it easier for you to know when your printer’s ink needs to be refilled. Follow the 8 steps mentioned below to fill your tanks and continue printing without any interruptions.

  1. Keep the EcoTank printer on. The power indicator must be on and not flashing. Check the LCD. If there is a notification indicating that you need to reset ink levels, use the OK button. You can also use the menu settings to reset ink levels.
  2. Uncover the ink tank component. Unscrew the cap of the ink tank and keep it securely using the cap holder.
  3. Open the cap of the new ink bottle. Remove the protective seal. Please don’t throw the cap as you might need it to close the bottle again. You will need to close the cap tightly after removal of the protective seal.
  4. Pour the ink till the indicative line on the ink tank. Every ink tank bottle is designed in a manner that it does not allow incorrect filling. It has a distinct inlet and spout. Once the tank is completely full, the filling will automatically stop.
  5. Now secure the bottle’s cap if there’s any ink left that you can use in the future. Close the EcoTank ink cap as well. If there is more than one ink tank in your printer, repeat the steps for all tanks that need to be refilled.
  6. Put on the cover of the ink tank unit and press OK.
  7. Using the left and right arrows, choose the ink tank that has been refilled and press OK. Do the same for all the tanks you have filled.
  8. Press START to reset ink levels and start printing.

Conclusion

Computer printers are common in homes and offices. This is because they offer incredible convenience. You can easily print documents at home saving time and money as compared to visiting a commercial printer or office supply store.

The 8 Best Epson EcoTank Printers in 2023 – Reviews and Comparison

My question was: What is the best 6 colour EcoTank Printer to buy in Europe to print large amounts of A4 photographs?
All of the above answers are for four colour printers!!!
Epson will not sell 6 colour printers in the European market — Why ?

  2. Nick Danger

Who else other than hp, canon and Epson make inkjet color printers these days? I think maybe Brother? What happened to Lexmark? Kodak?

  3. Phil

These “reviews” are worthless. They’re all the same, except that the choice of which specs to report for each printer is random. They don’t explain the differences between any of these printers! I’m blocking this website from my Google results.

  4. Doug

If you’re going to compare printers, you need to have an actual comparison using the same parameters, such as declaring print resolution, ppm, etc. in the same manner for all of them. Your report is a complete waste of time

  5. Bob Smith

So purchased an EWT-2760 based on this review. Biggest pile of crap ever! You can’t connect using wireless. The install package loads generic windows drivers. Tech support is the worst. It keeps crashing to an error screen which requires a hard reset. Spent hours trying to get it to work. Gave up. Lit it on fire in my dumpster so at least I had some satisfaction from it.

  6. JOANNE MOONEY

I just purchased an eco tank printer and the print quality is very poor for photos. Is this due to saving the ink or should the quality be better? All my photos are very dark.

  7. sir vertual

ThankYou.. best.. without question, this is the best, most concise, common-senseabout eco-tank printer info on the web!!! .. exactly what I needed.. everything else is a complex waste of time.. compared to your page / info!!!…

I have a question. In the past ink jet printers had a problem with ink drying in the print head. You see I don’t print much. not even one page a week and in a year a ink cartage would print maybe 50 pages and the ink would dry out in the print head. I would be replacing the ink cartage not because I ran out of ink, but because the print heads were dried out. When you replaced the ink cartage you also replaced the print heads.

With these new printers and up to two years of ink provided, have they solved the problem of ink drying in the print heads?

    1. Mr. Cong

Print at least one ( 1 ) containing colours and ( 1 ) b&W a week to prevent problems with heads drying out.

    2. Holli Ludwig

NO. Do NOT BUY! You can clean the nozzles out, which kind of works, but what they wont tell you is that that fills up an ink pad in the machine that is a NON REPLACABLE part. The machine is trash in less than one year.

      1. Seamus Costello

You can get a Waste Ink Container also called a “Printer Potty” for some printers
Look up “octoinkjet.co.uk” for full particulars.
I have them on three printers and I empty them when full.
It is not true that the printer is trash when the pad is full — You can get a key and reset the printer — full instructions
at: “WIC Reset utility key code free – wicreset”

I hope the above is of some help

        1. Andrew Pilkington

Besides the WIC facility, last time I had a problem with the ink tank, I simply cleaned it out. That was an Epson XP-452.
On that printer, access is by removing a screw and simply lifting out the ink pad cartridge, containing the pads. The ink pads can then be cleaned by running them under a tap and leaving them to dry out overnight, say on a radiator. Hardest part is if you forget which order the pads go, because each one is a different shape, so best make notes as you remove each one individually, first.
Quite easy really, once you locate the tank.
The WIC reset is an added bonus, should the tank software still need a reset.
