Install xfce desktop on Fedora 17

By | February 18, 2013

If you do not like the latest gnome desktop then you can switch to a lighter alternative called Xfce. The xfce desktop runs faster and therefore is suited for slower machines with older hardware.

To install the xfce desktop on Fedora just issue the following command at the terminal

$ sudo yum groupinstall xfce

When prompted, answer Y to install the packages. Once the installation is complete, just logout and the Login page will have an option called xfce in the session list.
